Priority 18 Stroke Rehabilitation and Long-term Care

UNCERTAINTY: How can training for healthcare professionals be made the same to ensure the best outcomes for all stroke survivors and their carers? (JLA PSP Priority 18)
Overall ranking 18
JLA question ID 0106/18b
Explanatory note

A huge range of healthcare professionals work with stroke survivors, and in various healthcare settings. Stroke is an extremely complex condition as each person is effected differently depending on the area of the brain affected, type of stroke and size of the damaged brain area therefore treatment needs vary dramatically. Personal and social factors can also impact care needs. Each healthcare professional has a role in delivering effective, person-centred care enabling people affected by stroke to rebuild their lives. Training of healthcare professionals is core to facilitating this. However, there is limited evidence around the most effective ways to deliver training to the various healthcare professionals that may be involved in stroke care.
