Michael Asonganyi

I am a Norwegian national originally from Cameroon, relocated to Norway in December 2009. I am a dedicated father of four children, three of whom were born in Norway, aged 5, 8, 10, and 13. I hold a bachelor’s degree in social work with International Social Work from Gavle University, Sweden. I also hold diplomas in Scandinavian Culture, Scandinavian History and Society from Halmstad University, and Storytelling in Moving Image Production from Karlstad University, Sweden. In my role as a social entrepreneur, I use social themes in creating films and documentaries that highlight social issues impacting people's well-being. My work promotes social inclusion, cultural freedom, and integration, raising awareness of critical social matters. In recognition of my exceptional social, innovative, and entrepreneurial contributions, I was honored as a 'GLOBAL SWEDE for Gävle University 2019' by the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. As an accomplished filmmaker, I directed the acclaimed film "The Scar that Scares Me" and won the Zafaa Global Film Festival award for Best Short Film in 2018 with his film "KONTE". Currently, I work as a social worker for Ecura Bo og Habilitering, assisting youths social and mental health challenges. Additionally, I hold a part-time position at the Norwegian Child Protective Services (BUFETAT) in the same capacity. I also currently work towards my first documentary on postpartum depression in Norway and Cameroon.
